Slot-Die Coating is a high-precision coating method that can coat substrates with coatings smaller than 2 microns and less than 20 times the diameter of human hair. Slot die coatings can provide greater consistency and accuracy than other technologies, and are therefore common in industry applications such as battery manufacturing, OLED manufacturing, barrier films, transdermal and oral pharmaceuticals, and solar panels.

Groove die coating systems use a closed flow to help reduce flow bias. Slot die coating systems must also be checked and kept clean of any contaminants, such as dust or hair, to ensure greater long-term repeatability and accuracy.
